Recreation Department Mission Statement: The mission of the Coronado Recreation Services Department is to strengthen community through programs, services and facilities which enhance personal development, promote healthy lifestyles, encourage community involvement, and foster environmental stewardship.
Recreation and Aquatics Programs: We offer recreation programs that include Pre School Recreation Classes, Acrobatic Classes, Holiday Camp, Junior Golf clinic, Youth Basketball league, Teen Program and Events, Youth and Adult Recreation Classes. We also offer aquatic classes for all level, diving classes, synchronized swimming classes, American Red Cross Classes and Water Aerobics. Coronado Skatepark: On May 18, 2001, the City of Coronado dedicated its newly constructed world-class skatepark located at 2000 Mullinex, in Tidelands Park. Encompassing approximately 16,000 square feet of concrete ramps, bowls, grinds and jumps, the park is an artistic sculpture that will cater to all levels of skill. The Street Plaza is a 2' to 3' deep spacious crater intended for beginners and the reserved. The Clover Bowl is 5' to 7' deep and offers challenges and surprises to the experienced skater. The last and most challenging bowl named Teardrop reaches 8 feet in depth and poses a challenge to Newton's law of gravity. For more information, please call (619) 522-7342.
Coronado Senior Citizen Center: Located at 1019 Seventh Street, adjacent to the public library. Offers a variety of interesting and enjoyable activities for senior citizens and the general public. While many of these activities are recreational, educational, social and artistic, the Center also provides assistance with legal aid, tax preparation and other programs. Coronado Tennis Center: Located at 1501 Glorietta Blvd, the Coronado Tennis Center has eight public courts and offers private and group instruction under the supervision of the City Tennis Professional. There is also a pro shop at the Center that offers racket stringing, racket rental, ball machine rental and video stroke analysis under the guidance of the tennis professional. Youth and Aquatics Program Registration Form: Registration for our Recreation Programs can be made easy by downloading the Recreation Activity Registration Form, completing it and mailing it back to the Recreation Department at 1845 Strand Way, Coronado, CA 92118. Class schedules and registration deadlines are available in our Recreation Brochure that can be picked up at the Recreation Department, Aquatics Center, Coronado Library. Application for Facility Use Permit: Reserving a Coronado Park or Beach for a special event can be made easy by down loading the Application for Facility Use Permit, completing it and mailing it back to the Recreation Department at 1845 Strand Way, Coronado, CA 92118. Permits are required for all groups larger than 25 people using a Coronado Park or Beach. For questions, please call (619) 522-7342.
Coronado Central Beach Runs along Ocean Boulevard with a back drop of fine homes and mansions. Restrooms and shower facilities. Lifeguards on duty. Tidepools, fishing in front of the Hotel del Coronado. Fire rings, dog run at north end. Free parking on Ocean Boulevard.
Glorietta Bay Beach Located South of the Hotel del Coronado and City Hall, the Glorietta Bay Beach offers a unique view of the Glorietta Bay and the San Diego- Coronado Bridge. With a large grass-filled park, restrooms, playground equipment, and a small beach area, the Glorietta Bay Beach can provide hours of fun, and a relaxing time for all individuals.
Silver Strand State Beach Located 4.5 miles south of Coronado Village along the Silver Strand. Fire rings, lifeguards, restrooms, showers. An underpass allows access to bayside beach and picnic area and Loews Coronado Bay Resort. Hours: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. $4 parking fee. Overnight RV camping is available at $14 a night; $12 for seniors; $1 per dog. (619) 435-5184.

Coronado Aquatics Center 1845 Strand Way. Our new facility will consist of a 50 meter competitive pool and a special use pool that has 3 lap lanes and a zero depth entry. We offer long course lap swim as well as short course times. We have a variety of aquatics programs for all ages and abilities. Coronado Golf Course Public course features 18 holes with backdrop of Glorietta Bay, San Diego-Coronado Bridge and the Hotel del Coronado. Driving range, pro shop, grill and meeting rooms available. (619) 435-9485.
Tennis 19 public tennis courts located at Glorietta Boulevard at Pomona Avenue, Sixth Street and D Avenue, and on Coronado Cays Boulevard near Fire Station.
Boating and Fishing Two marinas: Glorietta Bay Marina (619) 435-5203, and Loews' Crown Isle Marina (619) 424-4000. Both feature boat rentals ranging from paddleboats to sailboats to jet skis to deep sea fishing. Charter connection Dining Yachts is anchored at Glorietta Bay Marina. Water skiing in South Bay off Loews Marine. Fishing on pier at Ferry Landing Marketplace. Fishing off Hotel del Coronado breakwater. Surf-fishing along the ocean.
Biking and Rollerblading Coronado features 15 miles of dedicated bike and in-line skating paths. Bike/blade along the Bay, under the San Diego-Coronado Bridge, along the golf course and down the Silver Strand. Bike and in-line skate rentals available at many of the bike shops in Coronado. Bikes are allowed on San Diego Bay Ferry and Strand Bus route.
Glorietta Bay Park Located south of Municipal Pool on Strand Way. Boat launching ramp, grassy park, playground equipment and small sandy beach. Restrooms. Free parking.
Tidelands Park Sandy beach just below the Coronado Bridge. Fitness course, extensive children's playground equipment, picnic tables, ballfields, bike/walking path passes under bridge. Restrooms. Free parking.
Centennial Park First Street at the foot of Orange Avenue. Grassy knolls, gazebo seating, original ferryboat ticket booth. Sweeping bay views.
Spreckels Park Orange Avenue between Sixth and Seventh Streets. Gazebo bandstand is the site of Sunday summer band concerts (Memorial Day through Labor Day), picnics, community events and Art-In-The-Park. Playground equipment. Picnic tables. Restrooms. Free parking.
